National Year of Reading

Published by Mrs T at 9:59 pm under Uncategorized

Did you know that 2008 is the National Year of Reading?

At Lidget Green we are making a late start because it has taken so long for our new library to be ready, but we are not far away now.

The Lidget Green Year of Reading will start on Monday 17th November - there will be lots of exciting events that week, including a Book Fair and a giant Book Quiz - and we will be officially opening the library so you will be able to start borrowing books. If you have any ideas for Reading Events, post them in a comment or see Mrs O’Donnell, Miss Tillett or Mrs Tomlinson next week.

In the meantime keep an eye open to find out who was caught reading a book on the zipwire at Winmarleigh, who was reading in a very cold place, who got help from a ring tailed lemur and why a knight in shining armour was reading a book in our library.

Ooh I have one or two interesting photos too Mrs T. Some people do read books in VERY strange places. Plus I have a pic of the youngest reader ever!

A lot of my reading this holiday has been reading the comments people post on the blogs before they are approved. It is great to see that people are reading this too.
Can’t wait to see the knight in shining armour!

Could we have a dressing up/non-uniform day and raise money for new reading books to add to our already fantastic library? Then we could pick some of our favourite books which we may not have in the library yet.
