Reception
Welcome to reception!
A very warm welcome to Reception! We are delighted to welcome you and your family to our Reception class. Starting school is a huge milestone, and we are excited to begin this wonderful journey of learning, discovery and growth together.
Our reception team is made up of Mrs Ghani (RG), Mrs Byrnes and Mrs Davey (RBD). Our aim is to provide a happy, safe and nurturing environment where every child feels valued, confident and inspired to learn. Through engaging experiences, play-based learning and high-quality teaching, we encourage children to become independent, curious and resilient learners while developing a lifelong love of learning.
Our first topic, Me, My School and I, helps children settle into school life by building friendships, establishing routines and developing confidence. Throughout this topic, we will learn about ourselves, our families, our school community and the local area where we will celebrate the history, culture and diversity of Bradford to show that we are proud to be from Bradford. Children will also begin to understand the importance of being Ready, Respectful and Safe, helping them to become kind and responsible members of our school community.
Across the year, we will explore a range of exciting themes that inspire curiosity and creativity while developing all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum. Children will enjoy learning through stories, imaginative play, practical investigations, outdoor learning and hands-on experiences. Alongside this, we will begin our Little Wandle Phonics programme, develop early mathematical understanding, explore the world around us and express ourselves through art, music and physical development.
We believe that working closely with families is one of the most important ways to support children's learning. Whether it's sharing stories, practising reading, talking about your child's day or celebrating their achievements, every little moment makes a difference. We are looking forward to a fantastic year filled with exciting learning opportunities, new friendships and wonderful memories.
