YEAR 2:
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to a brand-new school year! We’re excited to begin this journey with your child and are looking forward to all the learning, growth, and fun that lies ahead.
This term, we have an exciting curriculum planned:
History: Our topic is “Proud to be Bradford”—a celebration of our local area’s rich history and community. We’ll explore how Bradford has changed over time and look at the historical buildings that are still used today
Geography: We’ll be carrying out fieldwork when we visit the City Centre to visit some of the historical buildings.
Art: We’ll be exploring drawing to understand tone and texture.
Maths: We’ll be focusing on place value, helping children deepen their understanding of numbers and the number system. This will provide a strong foundation for all areas of maths throughout the year.
English: We’ll be retelling familiar stories and revisiting key skills from Year 1, such as sentence structure, punctuation, and spelling. This will help build confidence and prepare us for more independent writing.
We are committed to making learning engaging and meaningful for all our pupils, and we value your support in making this year a success. If you have any questions or would like to know more about how you can support your child at home, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Ms. Hussain and Ms. Yaqub will be the teachers in 2H. Mrs Mehreen will be your teacher in 2M.
Here’s to a fantastic year ahead!
Warm Regards,
Year 2 Team
