Years Five & Six
YEAR 5:
Welcome to Year 5!
We are so excited to begin the new school year and look forward to getting to know all of our children and families.
Our Year 5 teaching team is made up of Miss Gul (5G), Mrs Raza and Mrs Clayton (5CR) who will be job sharing. We are looking forward to working together to provide a fun, engaging and supportive learning environment where every child can grow in confidence, develop new skills and enjoy exciting learning experiences throughout the year.
Our first topic is 'Proud to be from Bradford', where we will celebrate the rich history, culture and diversity of our local area. As part of our local history study, the children will explore Bradford's story, learning about the many communities that have shaped our city through 20th-century migration. They will discover how people from different backgrounds have contributed to Bradford's identity and why it is such a vibrant and diverse place to live today. We hope this topic will inspire children to develop a deeper understanding of their local heritage and feel proud of the city they call home.
We are looking forward to a fantastic year of learning, discovery and achievement together!
YEAR 6:
Welcome to Year 6!
We are delighted to begin another exciting year and look forward to working with you to help your child make the most of their final year at primary school.
Our Year 6 teaching team is made up of Miss Sale (6S), Miss Gordon (5/6G), Mrs Panesar and Mrs Akhtar (6AP), who will be teaching across Year 6.
Year 6 is a year full of opportunities, challenges and exciting experiences. As well as preparing for the transition to secondary school, the children will enjoy a broad and engaging curriculum, take on greater responsibilities and create lasting memories with their classmates. Throughout the year, we will support every child to grow in confidence, develop resilience and strive to achieve their very best.
This year, the children will complete their Key Stage 2 SATs in May. These assessments provide an opportunity for the children to demonstrate all the knowledge and skills they have developed throughout primary school. We will work hard to ensure every child feels well prepared and confident, while making learning engaging, enjoyable and supportive.
Regular attendance and punctuality are vital in Year 6. Every lesson counts, and missing learning can make it more difficult for children to keep up with new concepts and prepare fully for SATs and the move to secondary school. We ask for your support in ensuring your child attends school every day wherever possible and arrives on time, ready to learn.
Our first topic is 'Proud to be from Bradford', where the children will explore the rich history of our local area and develop a greater understanding of what makes Bradford unique. As part of this topic, we will visit Haworth to experience its historical significance and bring our learning to life. Educational visits such as this provide valuable opportunities for children to deepen their understanding, make meaningful links to their classroom learning and create lasting memories.
We are looking forward to a fantastic year ahead and are excited to support every child as they work towards achieving their full potential. We value the partnership between home and school and appreciate your continued support throughout this important final year of primary education.
