House Points at Lidget Green Primary School
Every child at Lidget Green Primary School from Reception through to Year 6 is part of a house family. The House Point system is designed to help foster a sense of belonging and healthy competition amongst peers. Children earn House Points throughout their school day for positive behaviour both in the classroom and outside such as demonstrating the school values, showing resilience, teamwork and taking care of others and our environment.
House Captains are elected by the children after sharing a speech about what they can offer their House. Prior to accepting the House Captain role, the new House Captains sign a contract of agreement. House Captains and Vice House Captains play an important role within school. They act as role models, positive influences and team leaders.
House points are counted weekly by our school House Captains and scores are recorded and celebrated as part of our weekly awards assembly, which takes place on a Friday. The weekly points are tallied up at the end of each term and the winning house receives a reward. Our Year 6 House Captains and Year 5 Vice Captains organise and run a calendar of events that children complete in their house teams.
Meet our House Captains and Vice Captains
Rashford
House Captain: Sheila
Vice Captain: Inaaya
We chose the name Rashford because Marcus Rashford has been involved with multiple programs to address child poverty and access to food. In 2020, he was appointed an MBE for his charitable work and was named one of the most influential people in the world.
Armstrong
House Captain: Fatima
Vice Captain: Iman
The reason we named our house Armstrong is because Neil Armstrong was the first ever person to go to space and he was best known as a commander of the NASA Apollo 11 mission to the moon. His first words after stepping on the moon were: “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”
Luther
House Captain: Meerab
Vice Captain: Saaim
Hello my name is Meerab and I am House Captain for Luther house. My Vice Captain, Saaim and I, have decided to name our house after Martin Luther King because Martin Luther King was a Baptist minister and social rights activist in the United States in the 1950s and ’60s. He was a leader of the American civil rights movement. Therefore, we both think that Martin Luther King played a huge role in life and we think he is an amazing role model to the rest of our fellow students.
Darwin
House Captain: Ismaeel
Vice Captain: Amelia
Hello my name is Ismaeel. I am the House Captain of Darwin House. The Vice Captain of this house is Amelia. We picked the name Darwin because Charles Darwin is an inspirational person because he transformed the way in which we understand the natural world.
