The Trees for Cities team worked with alongside volunteers, staff and children from Year 5 and Year 6 and organised the planting of trees and shrubs around the school grounds.
The new Long Term plan will be published in the Summer Term. In the meantime, please consult the ‘How to Help’ newsletter for details of what your child will be learning this term.
Children in Y5 enjoy the opportunity of Archery and Mountain biking activities at Baildon Recreation Centre in the Spring term . They learn the basic skills of Archery and those that are confident on bikes, ride to Saltaire and back. It’s great fun on the bikes but they sometimes get VERY muddy!
During the spring term, Year 5 are learning all about Bradford’s Mills. As part of this topic, we visited Lister’s Mill, Bradford. Once the largest silk factory in the world, Lister’s Mill dominates the Bradford skyline. Lister’s Mill has a fascinating history, which we will be learning more about after the half-term holiday.
Whilst we were there, we took photographs, sketched various aspects of the mill, and walked around the perimeter of the mill.
As part of our ‘Outdoor and Adventurous’ curriculum, Year 6 go to Doe Park in Denholme during the Autumn term and use the High Ropes. Each child goes once during the half term.
